MASCAP is our MOMAC Advanced Student Community Art Program. This is a program which will give Junior High to High School students demonstrating more advanced artistic skills the opportunity to hone their craft and showcase their work in a more specialized setting. Students selected for the MASCAP program must submit a portfolio for evaluation by a panel of professional local artists & craftspeople before being approved for enrolling in the program.
The unique part of the program is that an array of local businesses and organizations will be the ones providing the content from which to work. Students enrolled in MASCAP will not only be in a position to receive more exposure for their work, but will gain professional knowledge of the field all while helping to serve and meet a need in the local community. Currently, Johnson City's Hands On Children's Museum is working with our students on a project creating directional hanging banners. These banners will point out different exhibits, their gift shop, restrooms etc. Students will strive to make their designs both creative & informative so that the viewers (museum visitors) will understand the information quickly. This project will be a great lesson in Graphic Design and will certainly give the students a great addition to their portfolios. Stay tuned for more updates from this exciting new MOMAC studio program!
