Our students have been listening to a variety of stories from different story genres like fairy tales, animal tales, how & why tales, and tall tales. They have been illustrating excerpts from these stories as teacher & owner LaDonna West read to them in class. This activity is part of our collaboration with the Storybook Fair, a local community organization geared toward helping close the gap on illiteracy. In addition, professional storytellers from The StoryBook Fair have been attending our classes and telling tales to the students. There is something really magical about having a live storyteller in the room who is not reading from a book, but telling you a story straight from their head. The energy is electrifying. Today and again on November 14th, MOMAC students will be on location with The Storybook Fair at East Tennessee State University. The storytellers will be performing live to a crowd while our students do interpretive illustrations. It's going to be lots of fun! More to come from the ETSU events, so stay tuned!
